NH Lecco Pontevecchio Review: Best Hotel to Stay in Lecco?

When choosing the best place to stay in Lecco, we had a few must-haves on our list. We wanted a hotel in the heart of town, within easy walking distance of the train station, and with a beautiful view from our room. Since we planned to take day trips to other cities on Lake Como, convenience was also key.

NH Lecco Pontevecchio checked every box—and then some. From the moment we walked up to the front of the hotel, we were blown away by both the building and the service. The hotel itself is lovely – open, elegant, and high-end. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, making us feel welcome right away. We arrived late in the evening, but even in the dark the view from our room was stunning. After a very long travel day, it was such a relief to finally rest in luxury. Our stay was not only comfortable but also exceeded our expectations, making it the perfect base for exploring Lake Como. Location

NH Lecco Pontevecchio could not be in a better location. It sits on a quiet street in the heart of the city, right on the river. The short walk from the train station to the hotel takes you through Lecco’s main streets, where you can grab a coffee and pastry at Caffetteria Santa Marta—and if you do, try the lemon pastry—it’s delicious!

One of the best parts of the location is Lungolago di Lecco, the scenic river walk, which is right out the backdoor and one of the most beautiful things to do in Lecco. It also leads to Piazza XX Settembre, the city’s main historic square, where you can admire the ancient bell tower of Basilica di San Nicolò. Several cafés, restaurants, and bakeries are all within easy walking distance as well.

Rooms & Comfort

The room size was fantastic, offering plenty of space for our stay in Lecco with two beds, a desk, sitting chairs, a wardrobe, and large windows that fully opened. We loved sitting by the windows each night, taking in the breathtaking views of the river, lake, and mountains.

The beds and linens were incredibly comfortable, and you have the option of a king bed or two twins. We also appreciated the ample storage in the dresser and wardrobe. The bathroom was spacious, and the massage showerhead was a luxurious treat after long days of exploring.

Even though we were in the city center, the windows were soundproof, so once we closed them at night, the room was completely quiet.

Hotel Amenities

One of the biggest perks of NH Lecco Pontevecchio is the included breakfast—it was huge, well-stocked, and even had gluten-free options. It was about twice the size of hotel breakfasts in the U.S., offering fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, cheeses, veggies, a yogurt bar, and even an entire counter dedicated to Italian breads and pastries.

The coffee machine was my favorite part—it grinds fresh beans for each cup, making it the freshest coffee possible. Every morning, I enjoyed a cappuccino while looking out the large picture windows of the breakfast area, admiring the river and mountain views. It was a dream.

Service & Overall Experience

The hotel felt exceptionally clean—from the lobby to the breakfast area to our room. Everything was well-maintained and in perfect working order for our stay in Lecco.

The staff were friendly and helpful, always quick to answer questions. They even gave us great recommendations for our next destination, Florence.
